Prayer Reflection- December 19th, 2025

John 1:14-18 (NIV)

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

Jesus Christ is God and is in closest relationship with His Father, and He has revealed to us who God is.  What an incredible gift as we anticipate Christmas!

This world, our neighbours, our friends and family need to hear this good news.  Christ is the light of the world and the darkness cannot overcome Him.

What dark and discouraging news has been on your mind these days?  Perhaps not filling your thoughts, but perhaps so.  Let’s pray for Christ’s light to shine in these dark places.  Broken homes, broken relationships, children and youth and people with special needs and the elderly in dangerous and abusive situations, children estranged from parents, parents estranged from children, elderly people suffering indescribable loneliness, people sick and dying in hospitals and hospices, people in war torn nations suffering starvation and displacement from their homes and violence and death.  Truly, the list is endless.

Into all this, Christ has come.  He is Immanuel, God with us.  He is the light in the darkness.  He is Wonderful Counsellor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  He is our hope.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Let us seek Him and trust Him and rest in Him and obey Him.  Let’s pray that others would know the hope that is found only in Christ.

Here is a song that came to mind and I wanted to share it with you:
