Ministries Kids

Welcome to Awana!

Crayon ChildrenAwana is a place for kids to learn and grow in their relationship with God through intentional discipleship materials and scripture memorization. It is an exciting opportunity for them to make new friends, play exciting games, receive awards for their achievements, and connect meaningfully with one another, their leaders and God. Awana's mission is to stand for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” based on 2 Timothy 2:15.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

The Awana program encourages children to experience God by learning His word in a regular and systematic manner. Each group has age appropriate handbooks for you and your child to work through together. Children are rewarded for remembering God’s Word, as they recite their verses with their leaders on a weekly basis.

 Volunteer Positions    Crayon Blue stars

About 90% of our volunteers in Awana are needed to run small groups. There are two adults assigned per small group and as a team you work together throughout the year. You will select your top three choices and one choice must be a small group leader.

Please be aware that all volunteers need to arrive at 6:00pm for Huddle and some of the positions do require an earlier/later time.

Crayon FAQ's

How do I know what supplies my child needs for the Awana program?

Crayon blue question mark

Since this is the second year, we’re running Awana at CrossRoads, supplies needed will be dependant on if you are returning to the program or brand new.

Does my child need a new uniform?

If your child is new to Awana, or if they move up to a new age group, they will need a new uniform. Once you purchase the uniform for that age group program (Cubbies, Sparks, T&T) the child keeps the same uniform throughout their time in that specific program.

Cubbies: 3yrs – 4yrs

Sparks: K-Gr.2

T&T: Gr.3 – Gr.6

Does my child need a new handbook?

Whether your child is new or returning to Cubbies or T&T, a new handbook will need to be purchased.

Cubbies New Book (2026/2027): HoneyComb

T&T New Book (2026/2027 Curriculum): T&T Mission: Agents of Grace Handbook

If your child is new to Sparks, please purchase the HangGlider handbook.

If your child is returning to Sparks, there is no need to purchase the next handbook unless they have already completed their current one. If they are partway through a handbook, they can simply continue where they left off. You may wish to purchase the next handbook so you have it when they complete the current handbook they have.

Below is a list of the Sparks Handbooks that they may complete:

  • Sparks HangGlider Handbook (Book 1)
  • Sparks HangGlider Frequent Flyer Extra-Credit Book
  • Sparks WingRunner Handbook (Book 2)
  • Sparks WingRunner Frequent Flyer Extra-Credit Book
  • Sparks SkyStormer Handbook (Book 3)
  • Sparks SkyStormer Frequent Flyer Extra-Credit Book

Please note that all Extra-Credit Books are not necessary but a great option for children, if they are advancing fast through the books.

What if my child lost/damaged the uniform and/or the handbook?

Unfortunately, parents are responsible to repurchase those items in case they get lost or damaged.

As a parent, what is required of me?

Every registering family must follow the requirements for registration stated above. Also, as a parent you need to commit to bring your child weekly to Awana and be intentional about helping your child complete the handbook sections; this can include Bible verse memorization, review, acitivities or questions. Not only do we want your children to experience discipleship, but we want to help set them up to succeed when it comes to learning God’s truths found directly in His Word.

I want to register my kids for Awana but I do not attend CrossRoads Church?

Please contact Telaina King at awana@crossroadschurch.ca. One option is to attend a Tuesday night discipleship group so you can register your kids for Awana. However, before registering please ensure that you contact our Children’s Director to discuss.

Can I get a refund if I choose not to attend?

Unfortunately, we can not refund your money once your registration is complete. When we process your registration form we count on those funds when making orders to Awana for club supplies.
