Welcome to Awana!
Awana is a place for kids to learn and grow in their relationship with God through intentional discipleship materials and scripture memorization. It is an exciting opportunity for them to make new friends, play exciting games, receive awards for their achievements, and connect meaningfully with one another, their leaders and God. Awana's mission is to stand for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” based on 2 Timothy 2:15.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15
The Awana program encourages children to experience God by learning His word in a regular and systematic manner. Each group has age appropriate handbooks for you and your child to work through together. Children are rewarded for remembering God’s Word, as they recite their verses with their leaders on a weekly basis.
All Awana leaders are required to attend Training on Tuesday September 9, 2025.
Every Tuesday, September 16, 2025 to November 25, 2025, 6:30-8:00 pm.
Every Tuesday, January 13, 2026 to May 12, 2026, 6:30-8:00 pm.
If you have any questions please contact us at awana@crossroadschurch.ca
Awana is not a stand-alone program. It is connected to the bigger mid-week discipleship plan for CrossRoads Church. Please read carefully to see if your child is eligible.
- Requirement #1 | You must attend CrossRoads Church (2 exceptions below):
- If you are from another church, you must be signed-up for one of our mid-week discipleship programs running on Tuesday nights.
- All children who do not have a church home and are invited by a friend can come without a requirement of having to attend CrossRoads Church.
- Requirement #2 | One of the following:
- A parent is signed up to serve in Awana.
- A parent is signed up for a mid-week discipleship program running on Tuesday night.
- A parent is serving in a CrossRoads Church ministry or discipleship program on Tuesday night.
About 90% of our volunteers in Awana are needed to run small groups. There are two adults assigned per small group and as a team you work together throughout the year. Awana leaders get to sign up their children for the program first. You will select your top three choices and one choice must be a small group leader.
Please be aware that all volunteers need to arrive at 6:00pm for Huddle and some of the positions do require an earlier/later time.
These costs are a yearly fee per child that helps cover the costs of running the program (includes awards, basic materials, etc).

Awana Fall 2025 Registration will open June 30 at 10am for Awana serves and their families. For families attending or serving at a Tuesday night discipleship program, the registration will open on July 27 at 9am.
How do I know what supplies my child needs for the Awana program?
Since this is the first year we’re running Awana at CrossRoads, all Awana participants will be required to purchase the uniform and handbook.
Does my child need a new uniform?
If your child is new to Awana, they will need a new uniform or if they are in a new age group. Once you purchase the uniform for that age group program (Cubbies, Sparks, T&T) the child keeps the same uniform through-out their time in that specific program.
Does my child need a new handbook?
If your child is new to Awana, they will need a new handbook with the exception of Puggles who do not need a book. Once you purchase the handbook for that age group program (Cubbies, Sparks, T&T) the child keeps the same handbook through-out their time in that specific program.
What if my child lost/wrecked the uniform and/or the handbook?
Unfortunately, parents are responsible to repurchase those items in case they get lost or wrecked.
As a parent, what is required of me?
Every registering family must follow the requirements for registration stated above. Also, as a parent you need to commit to bring your child weekly to Awana and being intentional about helping your child complete the handbook sections which can include Bible verse memorization, review or questions. Not only do we want your children to experience discipleship, but we want to help set them up to succeed when it comes to learning God’s truths found directly in His Word.
I want to register my kids for Awana but I do not attend CrossRoads Church?
Please contact Pastor Priscila Woyke at awana@crossroadschurch.ca. One option is to attend a Tuesday night discipleship group so you can register your kids for Awana. However, before registering please ensure that you contact our Kids Pastor to discuss.
Can I get a refund if I choose not to attend?
Unfortunately we can not refund you your money once your registration is complete. When we process your registration form we count on those funds when making orders to Awana for club supplies.
