Prayer Reflection – February 10, 2024

Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

We can’t see roots, but they are vitally important.

Healthy trees have healthy roots.

Without roots, things above ground die quickly.

What does “rooted and built up” look like as we live in Jesus?

The words immerse and transform come to mind.  Something rooted is immersed in the soil, drawing on the nutrients, and the resulting growth is transformative.

As you read this passage of Scripture (see Colossians 2:6-10), what stands out to you today?

What other Scripture comes to mind?  Perhaps also consider reading one or more of the following: Psalm 1; Matthew 7:24-29, 13:1-9; John 15:1-8; Ephesians 4:11-13.

Let’s ask Jesus to show us what it looks like today to be rooted and built up in him, to daily be strengthened in the faith as we were taught and overflowing with thankfulness.

Let’s pray this for one another as we live in Christ.  Let’s pray for those who don’t know Jesus.  Let’s pray for people to be rescued from captivity (see Colossians 2:8).

As we take this time to pause with Jesus and His word today, I wanted to share these songs with you:

The Lord bless you!

Psalm 37
