1 Corinthians 2:6-10 (NIV)
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
Father, what do You have planned for today? What is on Your heart today?
There is inexpressible value to begin our days sitting with our heavenly Father. We wait in His presence to hear more of His heart for us, for others. His way, His will, His time. He reveals His heart through His word and by His Holy Spirit. Jesus declared that anyone who has seen Him has seen the Father (see John 14:9).
What keeps you from being still in the Lord’s presence? For me, I find that my mind is often preoccupied with any number of tasks. Do you have a space in your home where you like to sit with Jesus? Do you enjoy going for walks and eventually find yourself talking with Him?
Ask your Father, “What do You want our time together to look like today?” To be sure, you cannot escape His presence (see Psalm 139), but I am referring to that time where you slow and realize how near He is. As followers of Christ, His Holy Spirit is in us.
May we pause today and set aside distractions to hear what God wants to reveal to us by His Holy Spirit. May we follow His Spirit’s leading as we pray and walk through the day together with Him.
Here is a song that our church is singing in this season:
Only a Holy God by Here Be Lions
