Prayer Reflection - October 6, 2023

Matthew 5:6 (NIV)

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.

John 7:37-38 (NIV)

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

For many, Thanksgiving involves a time of feasting together with loved ones.  At such gatherings, there is often much food, laughter, and full stomachs.

Consider that same picture applied to hungering and thirsting after Jesus and His life at work in us.  I am thankful that such hunger and thirst is a work of His grace in our lives as we respond to Him.

What could it look like today to pray and ask Jesus to grow our hunger and thirst for the things of His kingdom?  To pray this for people that He places on our hearts?

And let’s remember those around us whose Thanksgiving may not involve any feasting or time with family and friends.  Let’s reach out to them and invite them into our family.

These songs are on my heart today and I wanted to share them with you:

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Lord bless you!
