Prayer Reflection - September 29, 2023

Matthew 5:5 (NIV)

Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Blessed are the meek.  They will inherit the earth.

As we read these words by Jesus in Matthew 5:5, let’s reflect on the word, meek (see also Psalm 37:11).

Meekness is gentleness.  It is a life wholly submitted to God and trusting in His strength.  In Matthew 5:5, it is the same Greek word translated as gentle in Matthew 11:29.

This is how Jesus describes Himself in Matthew 11.  He says, “I am humble and gentle at heart.”

I invite you to sit with Jesus and His word today.  What is He causing to stand out to you from His word?

Throughout the weeks ahead, let’s also read and re-read the book of Ephesians as we explore this book on Sunday’s in the current sermon series.

A life submitted to God our Father.  Life in Christ.  Through the power of His Holy Spirit at work in us (see Ephesians 3:14-21).

Let’s pray for those whom God places on our hearts today.  Let’s pray for others that they would know Jesus.

As we hear Jesus’ invitation to come to Him today, let’s prayerfully reflect on this song:

The Lord bless you!

 Psalm 37
