2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Psalm 63:1 (NIV)
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
2 Corinthians 4:7-10 (NLT)
7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. 8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
I would like us to pause today and take stock of the things that we desire. That is, on a regular basis, what are the longings that occupy us?
In Psalm 63, David declares his longing for God in the midst of a dry and parched land. I love the picture painted by these words. The contrast.
I encourage you to read through this entire psalm, reflect on it, and see what the Lord causes to stand out to you. 2 Corinthians 4 has been impactful for me this past week so I also wanted to include it here and encourage you to read through the entire chapter.
Recently, I went for an evening drive to help our baby girl get to sleep. As I drove, I was impacted by the beauty of the green fields and the countless trees along the country roads. Jesus reminded me of His presence and His help.
I don’t know what your day has been like today, but I invite you to sit with Jesus and His word. How is He leading your thoughts today? What are the things that He wants you to remember? How can we intercede for others today?
Over the past week, this song has been on my heart and I wanted to share it with you today as you pause with Jesus:
The Lord bless you today!
