Prayer Reflection – May 18, 2023

For a week now, the Holy Spirit has had me pondering the following passage.

Psalm 73: 21-26

Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside.

I was so foolish and ignorant, I must of seemed like a senseless animal to you.

Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand.

You guide me with Your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.

Whom have I in heaven but You?

I desire You more than anything on earth.

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.

What and who do you desire the most?  Please take time with paper and pen and write down what and who you desire most.  Be honest before the Lord in this exercise.  He already knows what’s true for you.

In my self-examination I have realized that I desire situations and relationships on this earth often more than being with our Lord.  When I become aware of this it is because I am often agitated, feeling harried and hurried.  As I intentionally withdraw into a quiet place with the Holy Spirit He reminds me that my sole source of strength is in Jesus Christ my Lord. One way that He gets my attention is through memorizing breath prayers.  He helped me form one from the passage above.  As I take a deep breath I whisper, “Lord Jesus Christ, You are the strength of my heart” And as I slowly release my breath I whisper, “and my portion forever.”  I offer it as a gift to you to practice and find lifegiving.

May our Lord bless you abundantly!  You are loved!
