Prayer Reflection – April 7, 2023

Luke 23:33-34; 44-46 (NIV)

33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Revelation 5:9-10 (NIV)

And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”

Jesus died on the cross as the perfect atoning sacrifice for our sins (see Hebrews 9:27-28; Revelation 4-5).

Nothing lacking (see Romans 6:1-11).

He forever conquered sin and death through His death and resurrection (see Philippians 2:5-11).

By trusting in Him, we have been completely forgiven and restored to right relationship with our Heavenly Father (see Ephesians 2:1-10).

I invite you to prayerfully read through Luke 23 and 24 and Revelation 4 and 5.

I invite you to reflect on the immeasurable gift that God has given us through His Son, Jesus (see John 3:16-17).

These songs come to mind and I wanted to share them with you as you pause and worship Jesus:

Sincerely yours in Jesus,

Pastor Dave
