Board Report

As a Board, we watched how the lockdowns and restrictions had moved from ‘being open’ last summer, to them being reimplemented in the fall. However, as a Board, we remained steadfast with what we believe God asked us to do, by following the mandates the Government put in place, believing that our actions honoured God.

During this time as a Board, there were many days that we prayed and fasted for wisdom, knowledge, and for our church body. We still stand on 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and heal their land.” We cannot do this without humbling ourselves and seeking Him.

Even with this, the Board constantly walked a balancing act between people who believed one thing, and others who believed another. We were caught in the middle of these beliefs and the constant pull from each side, but each of us continued to try and remember to lift our eyes higher onto Jesus, and to ask for His wisdom.

The Church Board saw two new members join this year: Trevor Schultz and Benno Fath. These men have jumped right in and bring tremendous knowledge and wisdom to the Board table, for which we are grateful. Unfortunately, we also had a member step down as they felt their time was complete, so we reluctantly said goodbye to Marci Wilson, but we continue to look to her and her husband, Dan, for wisdom as Honored Elders, and as we look to fill her position on the Board.

At our January AGM, we also heard from Pastor Dan that he is looking to step down at the end of 2023. The Board has begun the process of looking for what the church needs in our next Senior Pastor, and we are also taking this opportunity to reflect on our Vision and core values to determine if they are still the path God wants us to take. The Board was unanimous in believing this is still the direction to which God has called CrossRoads Church. The core elements remain the same, however we are open to how we achieve the goal, and what language we will use.

We as a Board will be looking to engage with you, our church family, as we seek God for who He has as our next Senior Pastor, and we will provide opportunities for input through various means. Please keep your eyes open for those announcements.

Overall, I have been humbled and encouraged by the many who have gone out of their way to let me know that you are supportive of the Board and Church leadership, and how you continually pray for us. Thank you! Your prayers are felt, and your encouragement brings strength as we serve to represent you and Christ to the best of our ability.

Thank you,
