Prayer Reflection – February 24, 2023

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NIV)
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

In anticipation of spring and summer and the Lord sending warmer weather our way, one of the things that I look forward to is skipping stones on a lake or river.  I remember first learning to do this by the South Saskatchewan River when I was younger.

There’s something particularly enjoyable about throwing a flat stone across the water and watching it skip however many times before it disappears under the surface.

This is the meaning behind the word, cast. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  Throw, heave, hurl, holding nothing back.  He cares for you.

What are you carrying today?  What do you need to bring to Jesus today and cast upon Him?  Give to Him?

As I read these words from 1 Peter 5, the words of Psalm 91:1 also come to mind, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Who do you know who is carrying heavy burdens in this season?  Losses, disappointments, fears?  As Jesus brings people to mind, I invite you to bring those names to Him in prayer.

As we pause today with Jesus, I invite you to reflect on these songs that a friend recently shared with me.

The Lord bless you and your household today!

 Sincerely yours in Jesus,

Pastor Dave
