Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
13 I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
Luke 2:25-26 (NIV)
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.
I invite you to prayerfully read through Psalm 27 and Luke 2 as we continue to anticipate Christmas.
I wonder if Simeon sometimes reflected on this psalm as he was waiting to see the Lord’s Messiah.
In this Advent season, we remember that Jesus came and we eagerly look forward to Him coming again.
What is on your heart today? Is there something that you are regularly talking with Jesus about in this season? Wondering about? Hoping for?
Because of who Jesus is, we can confidently wait. We can be still and know that He is God (see Psalm 46:10).
He will strengthen us. He will provide for us. He is our hope. Let’s pause in His presence today.
As you pause with Jesus in worship and prayer, here are songs that I wanted to share with you today. O Come O Come Emmanuel is a song of prayerful longing, waiting, hoping. Perhaps listen to these two versions of this song at different times over the next week. The third song is in Hebrew and drawn from Psalm 46. It is performed by an Israeli band called MIQEDEM who may be unfamiliar to you. They worship Jesus (Yeshua) as Messiah and in their lyrics rely solely on Hebrew Scripture, drawing mostly on the Psalms.
The Lord bless you!
