Rock, Roads, and Really Good Pasta: A Day with the Crossroads Mission Team

What a whirlwind of a day it has been for our Crossroads Church mission group here in beautiful Italy! From the moment we set out, we knew we were in for an adventure, starting with the white-knuckle drive up to the camp. The road is a character all its own—winding, incredibly steep, and narrow enough to keep everyone on their toes. But once you reach the top, the views make every hairpin turn worth it.

We jumped straight into work today with a clear focus. The team spent a significant portion of the morning moving buckets of rock; it was heavy, dusty work, but essential as we sorted through what could be reused for future construction and what was simply waste. Meanwhile, progress continued inside as we worked on the ceiling, and a smaller crew tackled the monumental task of re-organizing the shed, turning chaos into a functional workspace with an added work of art found amongst the chaos that was hung up! Finding beauty in all Gods creation was key today to remind us why we’re here.

Of course, no day in Italy is complete without honoring the local cuisine. We were treated to pasta not once, but twice today! It provided the perfect fuel for our afternoon excursion. We headed down to the lake for a much-needed break, where the team enjoyed a refreshing swim and some spirited rounds of volleyball under the Italian sun. We capped off the trip with the ultimate reward: authentic gelato.

Tired and sore, but with full hearts and even fuller stomachs, we are ready to see what tomorrow holds. Grazie for following along on our journey!
