The Longest of Days

Today feels like the longest of days.  We lost our night somewhere in our flights.  Some of us have been able to nap and some of us are powering through until the evening.  But we are all tired.

We saw this stunning sunrise from the airplane this morning.  We were reminded of Lamentations 3:23.  “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

All of our flights were delayed but somehow we arrived early.  It was a welcome sight to see both Raney and Gary waiting for us in Milano.  They look us out for a light snack before driving us up the mountain to the camp.  Three of us remembered to take some gravel before starting the switchbacks.  Gary drove like a professional NASCAR driver around the corners.  When we arrived, we were all in awe at the beautiful property. The building looks like it came straight out of a fairytale.  Within minutes, Raney had a pasta salad out for us to enjoy together.

The afternoon was spent in various ways.  Some of us napped, walked, explored the property.  But all of us spent some time getting to know Raney and each other a little better.  Today was a day to rest and refresh and get ready to start work tomorrow morning.
