Prayer Reflection for July 16th, 2026

Psalm 24:3-4 (NIV)

3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.

Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Open-handed.  This is a picture that continues to be on my mind today and goes back to when I was baptized in the spring of 1997.

Holding our hands open to Jesus.  Heads bowed.  Offering our lives to Him.  Offering our moment by moment lives.  Each moment matters.

I encourage you to prayerfully read Psalm 24 and Romans 12 (see also Romans 11:33-36).  How do these verses give us insight into God’s character?  What does the Holy Spirit cause to stand out to you?

Where are the idols in your life?  Anything that you need to confess to the Lord and repent of today?

What are you thanking God for today?  Remember that He is your Father in heaven.  He loves it when we come running to Him.  He is always watching for us.  Waiting for us.  Oh, that we would know more of His heart today.  So we pray, “Father, show us Your glory!” (see Exodus 33:18).

This is a song by Maverick City Music that I wanted to share with you.  It is a longer clip and I encourage you to pause with Jesus for as long as He leads you to linger with Him:
