CHRISTIAN MIND - Kerry Belt (Rocky Mountain College) Lower Youth Room

Theories on how to "do life" are numerous and often change rapidly. Living Christianly in the midst of that kind of change is often difficult - it is as if we need a GPS to steer our way through life! That is what a Christian mind does. It helps us to think Christianly so we can respond effectively to cultural shifts. Growing deeper in our Christian thinking allows us to grow deeper in our ministry to others.

CULTURAL STUDIES IN THE GOSPELS - Dan Cochrane (Senior Pastor) Upper Youth Room

"Getting behind the scenes in three well- known gospel stories".

In this course we will look at three well known stories in the gospels: the woman caught in the act of adultery, the woman at the well and the prodigal son. Looking through the lens of Middle Eastern culture, these stories will lead us into a deeper understanding of the person and significance of Jesus within his own cultural context.

LIFE CHANGING WORSHIP - Dallas Lundell (Worship Pastor) Chapel

Christ-followers have been gathering together for thousands of years to bestow honour and praise to the one true God. Psalm 96:4 tells us that God is great and worthy to be praised. What a privilege it is for us to come before our Lord and Saviour to give Him what is rightfully His.

Through our time together, we will talk about the importance of worshipping God as a community and the impact Christ has on us as we live a life of worship. We will also venture into the world of why we sing the songs we sing, the importance of Scripture in the songs we bring to God, and how the arts can be used to draw us closer to Christ. We will spend much of our 90 minutes together being in God's presence and asking Him to speak to us through His Word. We'll sing, pray, talk, and simply be with God. Our desire is that through this time together, we will have a deeper understanding of why God deserves our best and how our times together as a community worshipping God can transform how we live for Christ. See you February 7. We can't wait!

CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER - Verdele Polson (Ontario) K-4 Area

The popular definition of "contemplation" is to think about and consider something from a variety of angles. But the classical definition is an experience of Loving Presence which comes as a pure gift given as God chooses - not as an outcome we achieve through our own efforts or discipline. So Contemplative Prayer is a radical openness to God's presence, a trustful waiting, acknowledging that God is God, the source and the destination, the means and the end of all our prayer, whatever form it may take. It leads to deeper relationship with God which always transforms us into a responsive, participative, compassionate presence with God in the world. Our focus over these three weeks will be less on teaching, more on praying and sharing our experience. We will practice 3-4 forms of contemplative prayer and the disposition of a listening heart. Please note that this series will not be recorded and the class will be limited in size.
